Programa de Residência Artística para Cocriação com Indígenas
Antoine Buquen é um fotografo Breton (França) que decidiu passar nove meses de sua vida no Brasil para conhecer e retratar a realidade indígena contemporânea. Pela internet conheceu a ONG Thydêwá e começou a dialogar em abril de 2019 com seu presidente Sebastián Gerlic. Visitou a sede da instituição e caminhou algumas partes do território Tupinambá onde Gerlic lhe apresentou alguns indígenas.
Por mais alguns meses Antoine e Gerlic continuaram a dialogar. Antoine usava o WhatsApp para conversar com alguns indígenas Tupinambá. Decidiram todos se aventurar em uma residência artística fotográfica. Thydêwá, em Setembro de 2019, organizou um Encontro com várias mulheres indígenas de diferentes etnias. Nesses dias conheceu a Débora Pill que estava atuando como uma das facilitadoras do Encontro. Nesse contexto nascia: Retratos Invisíveis.
Retratos Invisíveis: descolonizando o olhar
Você conhece a realidade das mulheres indígenas no Brasil?
Como se parecem? O que fazem? Como vivem seu dia-a-dia?
Os “Retratos Invisíveis” buscam apresentar um olhar mais próximo da realidade das mulheres indígenas no Brasil hoje, mostrando o valor da diversidade em seus tons de pele, tipos de cabelo, sotaques, caminhos espirituais, formação e estudos, escolhas profissionais e atuação política.
A força e a sabedoria das mulheres indígenas inspiraram o fotógrafo francês Antoine Buquen e a jornalista paulista Debora Pill a cocriarem os “Retratos Invisíveis” com as indígenas Maria Pankararu (PE); Îã Gwarini Tupinambá, Menbyra Iasy Tupinambá, Txaha Ymboré e Txaynara Ymboré (BA).
Artistic Residency for Colaborative Creation
The NGO Thydêwá, alchemically composed of Indigenous and non-Indigenous, has been developing experiences of intercultural dialogue for artistic co-creation since 2009. In September 2019, after 20 adventures, Thydêwá launches its permanente open call to artists who wish to collaborate with Indigenous people.
If you want to do propose an artistic co-creation project, we would love to talk to you, to find out more. This call has no deadlines and you are welcome to write to us at any time, this invitation is not linked to any sponsorship, nor are we offering any kind of grant or scholarship. The NGO Thydêwá will be able to join forces with any proposals it deems interesting. Thydêwá is a small NGO that has no significant financial resources of its own that it can use to make housing viable; However, Thydêwá has contacts with more than 20 Indigenous communities, contacts with cultural producers, photographers, videographers, musicians, designers, curators, journalists, educators, translators and others. Thydêwá can share ideas, send a letter of invitation, suggest ways and methods, draft a budget, or help shape a project. The interested artist will have a very variable budget, depending on where you want and can go and what and what kind of work(s) will be created, but we suggest a base of 500 reais ($125 USD) for each day of residency.
Currently the Breton photographer Antoine Buquen is in Brazil, building a partnership with Thydêwá. Through his own efforts, and through crowdfunding, he has been able to finance his artistic residency. If you’d like to know more, please contact us.

We suggest you learn about our Indigenous Electronic Art program, the residences already completed, and the short videos made during the processes. The nearest communities are these eight. In 2019, AEI has received the S+T+ARTS prize, at Ars Electronica.
